Bharti Airtel, India’s leading mobile services provider, has achieved a record of over one lakh customers in Nagaland in a span of less than 30 months. After its launch in Dimapur in July 2006, Airtel has spread its network to 7 districts in Nagaland, covering major towns such as Kohima, Mokokchung and Tuensang. Airtel network also covers the major national and state highways in the state. The achievement of one lakh customers by Airtel is a significant landmark considering the rugged and difficult terrain.
Anjuli Chittaranjan, Manager, Internal and Corporate Communications, Bharti Airtel Limited, through a release informed that Airtel has over 16.5 lakh customers in the North Eastern Region. In Nagaland, Airtel has over 80 towers, 16 channel partners and about 1000 retailers – all contributing to boost the local economy and enhance the telecom infrastructure of the state. Airtel has also provided a boost to the local employment in the state by grooming local talents and providing an opportunity to the youth to gain employment, both direct and indirect.
According to Sudipto Chowdhury, COO, NESA, Bharti Airtel Limited, “Airtel is committed to provide customers with superior network and world class service. This commitment has been met as a result of dedicated investments in network, coupled with affordable products. I thank our customers who have trusted in our brand and look forward to the support of the state government and people of Nagaland to partner Airtel in further developing the telecom infrastructure to reach the people who live in remote and far-flung areas of the region.”
